Here are the contenders for the 2012 World Final (click left, scroll up & vote in the poll) - The Superstox calendar reaches its climax this coming weekend at Foxhall Heath Stadium on Saturday 18th August @6:45pm when the mighty descend to battle for Gold! Who's your money on then; can you pick this year's winner? Will Nick Smith make it two years in a row?
There's been some outstanding racing throughout the season and the contest is still wide open. We've witnessed a number of determined drives from Glenn Salmon who is on excellent form, battling defiantly with the Jones Brothers on more than one occasion. Ryan Eaton has also been very impressive driving some brilliant races. Sadly we won't see what either Liam Lambert or Murray jones could have done; both were strong contenders, but after their run-in at Ipswich Spedeweekend we saw them being banned for a year. Ben Munford and Dave Miles are also two drivers to watch for with good results throughout the season. Todd Jones has shown that he is on the pace taking the European this year in Lochgelly.
Could the win come from one of the superstar drivers? Jason Cooper has been flying of late in his new RCE, as had Ben Margoram despite not having competed in so many races this year, but his car should be all prepped for the World. Could Colin Aylward, Steve Jackson, Garry Sparkes or Shaun Brooker pull a surprise victory and bag another gold amongst them? Let's not forget Sarah Cooper can also hold her own in the big races and recent results have shown she should not be overlooked either. Will Paul Langridge who has also had a good year pull-off the big one in his new car?
Might we see some tactical team play from the Meadows boys? Both have taken nicely to their new HCD cars and achieved some worthy results with them. There is also the Scottish contingent to face up to on the grid. Will Stuart Gilchrist take the trophy O'er the Border and surprise everyone (if he can stay away from trouble with Billy Smith again!). Will our Dutch friends Luud and Jeroen Laurijssen with their intimate knowledge of Foxhall Heath, battle through the crowds to a possible victory? Or will the first corner claim your favourite driver in a melee of carnage?
These are just a handful of possibilities to the outcome of the big race. No matter who claims the gold roof in the end, we wish all the drivers the very best of luck for the race and look forward to a spectacular battle. Our hearts go out to one and all and we thank you for a superb season's racing so far!
